Overview

The Sustainable Growth and Nature Department at Oxford Policy Management is seeking State Coordinators on a fixed-term basis. The position would be located in Gujarat, Bihar, Odisha, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Uttarakhand in India.

The Sustainable Growth and Nature Department works to promote climate-resilient, inclusive, and evidence-based approaches to natural resource management and rural development. We support governments and development partners to design and implement policies and programmes that strengthen water security to enhance livelihoods.

Position Summary

The position of State Coordinators for Gujarat, Bihar, Odisha, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Uttarakhand would be responsible for a rural water security project and will:

    • Represent the project in the state assigned to them.

    • Lead state-level liaison and coordination to ensure smooth implementation of the project.

    • Support preparation of state-specific documents and reports for the project.

    • Provide water security–related inputs for the development of appropriate learning materials, including guidebooks and technical resources.

    • Facilitate key state-level meetings, including steering committee meetings, workshops, and consultations.

    •  Extend need-based support and advice to project partners and the state government for high-quality project implementation.

       

Key Qualifications / Experience / Skills / Behaviours

  • Master’s degree in earth sciences, natural resources management, social sciences, or a related field.

  • Fluency in English, Hindi, and the assigned state language.

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in natural resources management and/or rural development.

  • At least 5 years of experience working in India, including substantial experience in the assigned state.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading large teams (3+ people) in projects, companies, or organisations.

  • At least 3 years of experience delivering projects funded by international development organisations such as the United Nations, World Bank, GIZ, USAID, European Union, or Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.
